Migration and Trafficking in Georgia

The pilot survey shows that:
The most of the respondents (84.0%) think that the main reason of migration is “to support the household”.
And the 83.3% of the respondents trust that the household welfare will “change for the better” in case of working abroad.
At the same time, it should be mentioned, that 61.7% of respondents evaluate the welfare of their households as low – “could purchase only food and living essentials”.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The project aims to Combat Trafficking in Georgia through prevention of trafficking in human beings and development of institutional mechanisms for prosecution of trafficking and protection of trafficking victims.

The main activities:
- monitoring and support to the implementation of the Plan of Action against Trafficking;
- training courses for representatives of law-enforcement bodies;
- collaboration between specialists from Local governmental agencies, law-enforcement bodies and NGOs to develop jointly a National Referral Mechanisms (NRM) to Combat Trafficking.
